You Own Your Own Effort

I’m not going to lie. Today was a hard day.

I had the day packed with calls, fixing bugs, ensured and audited that websites tracked all the business events correctly through separating and classifying Google Tags and making root cause analyses.

On top of that, I had set up a couple of Amplitude experiments to prove some hypothesis.

If you had asked one year ago that I would be doing all of this work, I wouldn’t have believed it.

I barely knew about website performance, how to measure conversion correctly or implementing an analytics architecture. I still feel I have so much more to learn, and I’m happy about that.

By the end of the day, something happened that made it all worthwhile.

I received a call from one of my most knowledgeable and experienced colleagues:

“Hey Matteo, one of the clients want to know how you achieved pushing organic sales on some critical product lines . If they had to call me to tell me this, I can just say I’m super proud of your work!”

I couldn’t be happier to hear those news.

Hard work pays off guys. Not only I learnt so much about myself over the last year about front-end engineering, website performance, marketing and analytics, but also about how to work with external clients.

How do I introduce myself, what are the right questions to ask, how to stay calm and emotionally strong during pressure and above all, how to bring solutions to problems.

I’m humbled by the trust that I receive from my peers, mentors, clients, co-workers and community members around me. It motivates me to push myself everyday more.

And I also learnt that winning is about the effort. You can only do what you can control. You can influence, give your opinion and try your best but at the end, you own your own effort.

If you gave your best, you should be proud of yourself. I cheer for you! 💯
